NEW CARROLLTON, Md. - There were some tense moments in a New Carrollton neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

U.S. Marshals say it started when a wanted man barricaded himself inside a home near East-West Highway and Ardmore-Ardwick Road. The Marshals had come knocking because the man, who has been identified as 46-year-old Alan Fisher, was wanted in two jurisdictions.

First, he had failed to show up in a D.C. Superior Court on a cocaine distribution charge, and he was also wanted in Prince George's County on a second-degree weapons charge.

Prince George's Police SWAT teams arrived, and police placed snipers on the rooftop. They also put two nearby elementary schools on lockdown temporarily.

Officers used tear gas, but no shots were fired, and Fisher eventually surrendered. He is currently in custody of the U.S. Marshals.
