NEW CARROLLTON, Md. - A Prince George's County fire official says Amtrak traffic through New Carrollton has been halted after a locomotive caught fire at the station.

Fire department spokesman Mark Brady says firefighters are working to put out a "relatively small" fire in the locomotive hooked up to passenger cars at the station outside Washington. He says the fire was first reported around 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Brady says no injuries have been reported. He did not know yet whether anyone was aboard the locomotive or passenger cars when the fire broke out.

The Maryland Transit Administration is warning of major delays on the MARC Penn Line, which goes through the station.
