VIDEO STORY By Bob Barnard
The teenager charged in Thursday's Columbia Heights shooting is a twelve dollar-an-hour summer intern for D.C. Councilman Jim Graham. Graham brought the accused gunman to the police.
19-year-old shooting suspect Devyn Black was said to be cooperating with investigators.
D.C. Police say he is going to be charged with assault with a deadly weapon and brought to court tomorrow morning.
Black is accused of shooting another young man outside the Columbia Heights Metro station Thursday afternoon.
Graham says right after the Friday afternoon news conference promoting a gang crime bill, police told him his intern was their suspect. Graham says he called the teen on his cell phone and they agreed to meet at a park in Columbia Heights.
Councilman Graham says he's deliberately hired known gang members before, but didn't know Black was suspected of having ties to a gang.
Graham's office says Devyn Black is a graduate of Wilson High School.
Police say one of the shooting victims remains hospitalized tonight. The other, a innocent bystander, is back home.
