D.C. Attorney General Peter Nickles has issued subpoenas in his investigation into Ticketmaster and the ticketing giant's resale practices.

"It will take about 10 days for us to receive documents pertaining to these transactions, then we will decide if testimony is necessary. We want to make sure no consumer fraud statues were violated," Nickles told FOX 5 Monday evening.

This probe is a result of complaints filed by concertgoers with the D.C. Attorney's Office. They thought they bought tickets for Bruce Springsteen's May 18 concert at the Verizon Center from Ticketmaster, but instead purchased the seats from TicketsNow, a resale service owned by Tickemaster. Springsteen fans who paid a premium for premium seats were contacted days before the concert by Ticketmaster and told the concert was oversold. They offered several options including a full refund with tickets in upper seats, a 200 percent refund and no tickets, or tickets to another Springsteen concert along with hotel accommodations.

Ticketmaster apologized and promised never to link concertgoers to their own resale website in a manner that would create any future confusion.

A statement on Springsteen's website reads: "We would like our audience to know that this is a problem caused entirely by Ticketmaster and its wholly owned subsidiary TicketsNow. Neither Bruce nor his management have any control whatsoever over these two troubled entities but we deeply resent the abuse of our fans."
