(MYFOX NATIONAL) - During his visit to Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, President Obama and Queen Elizabeth II exchanged gifts. According to the BBC , he gave her an iPod containing footage of her state visit in May 2007. She gave him a framed photo of herself, which is the official picture she gives all visiting dignitaries.

The gift swap was closely scrutinized after Obama faced criticism for his gift to British Prime Minister Gordon Brown at the White House in March. Obama presented Brown with a box set of 25 classic American movies in a format that didn't even work with British DVD players . Meanwhile Brown gave Obama an ornamental pen holder made from the timbers of the Victorian anti-slave ship HMS Gannet.

Craig on CSMonitor.com said , "Obama has proved (twice now) that he has no class. He comes across like he does in his speeches but you can tell he doesn't by what he picks for gifts." Mark on USNews.com said , "For a historic president, his gifts are sorely lacking inspiration."

While the iPod may have seemed an unlikely choice for the Queen, she reportedly actually wanted a new iPod, according to Fox News. She has an audio iPod, but not one that has video capability. So it seems Obama's gift may have been thoughtful after all.
