Man Shot By DC Police Officer During Traffic Stop

WASHINGTON - One person has been shot by a D.C. Police officer during a traffic stop in Northeast D.C.

Police say the officer pulled over a car at the 4400 block of Pond Street with two men inside. The men ran when the officer approached.

During the ensuing chase, one of the suspects started fighting with the officer. The officer opened fire and shot the suspect in the torso area.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Police are searching for the second suspect.
