WASHINGTON - Magic Johnson Enterprises and Aon, the leading global provider of risk management services, hosted a press briefing on Thursday at Howard University to discuss promoting economic opportunities for minority business enterprises.

Members of the National Minority Supplier Development Council, including many Fortune 500 companies, have established a goal to increase utilization of minority-owned businesses from the $100 billion spent in 2007.

While organizations in the past have had the tendency to look to MBEs (Minority Business Enterprises) for needs such as office supplies and janitorial services, Aon and Magic Johnson are joining forces to open the eyes of decision makers to the professional services capabilities of MBEs as well.

At the event, Earvin "Magic" Johnson, chairman and CEO of Magic Johnson Enterprises, and Leonard McLaughlin, president of Aon Cornerstone Innovative Solutions (the Aon business that focuses on partnering with minority business enterprises) discussed the partnership, the opportunities that exist for those firms ready to make the commitment and the positive impact those efforts will have on their communities.
