DC Community College To Begin Classes

WASHINGTON - Later this month, the first students will begin classes at a new community college on the campus of the University Of The District Of Columbia.

The new community college answers a call from the White House for more workforce-development programs and opportunities for young people to learn skills that earn diplomas.

The President of UDC, Doctor Allen Sessoms, and the CEO of the new community college, Doctor Jonathan Gueverra, joined us with details.

Community College of UDC:

In January 2009, under the leadership of Dr. Allen Sessoms, President of the University of the District of Columbia (UDC), the university announced its intention to create a community college. The Board of Trustees approved the creation of a new university system, which will include UDC and the UDC community college. Dr. Eurmon Hervey is the CEO/Executive Director of the Community College Initiative (CCI) and is leading the effort to create this institution.
