D.C. may be one step closer to a gay marriage bill.
The City Council just approved a bill to recognize same sex unions from out of state. This comes on the same day Vermont became the fourth state to legalize gay marriage.
The Archdiocese of Washington issued a statement saying it was disappointed that the city council made the move without input from families.
At least one city council member is already working on a gay marriage bill for D.C. But, some advocates fear pushing the issue to the forefront right now might jeopardize the D.C. Voting Rights Bill they hope Congress will sign.
