Teen Shot on Minnesota Ave

A fourteen year old boy gunned down in the District Saturday night was running from trouble when he was shot.

Hit in the back as he tried to get away from two men on Minnesota Avenue in Northeast.
Arthur Daniels was with a group of friends from the Victory Outreach Church when two men began hassling them just after eleven pm.
The men wanted to know where the boys were from. They kept asking..."Where do you live"?

The Pastor of the church, Chuck Turner, says the boys were spending the night at a friend's house. They had briefly left the home to pick up another friend and were heading back to the house when they were attacked.

DC Police say immediately after the shooting the gunmen carjacked a Mazda at a nearby intersection. After abandoning that car the men carjacked a second vehicle. A Cadillac in the five thousand block of Burroughs Avenue Northeast.

Arthur Daniels attended Spingarn High School.
His father said Monday the family was too distraught to comment.

So far this year there have been twenty two murders in the District. Four more than there were on March 2, 2008.
