WASHINGTON (AP) -- Jubilant celebrations of Barack Obama's election have stretched into the early morning hours as hundreds of people packed D.C. streets and gathered near the White House.
A large crowd paraded on Pennsylvania Avenue after midnight with drums, balloons and a life-size cutout of Obama. Some chanted "Bush is gone!"
Secret Service and U.S. Park Police officers stood guard nearby, though no arrests were reported.
By 4 a.m. a few young revelers lingered. Nadirah Moreland says she wanted to see where the Obama family will be living.

Across town on U Street, car horns and music blared. Some people set off fireworks. The celebrations remained peaceful with hugs and high-fives.
Police began clearing the street by 3 a.m.
Police reported the sounds of gunfire in some areas, but no injuries were reported.
