WASHINGTON, D.C. - It has been more than two years since the murder of Robert Wone,
the prominent attorney was found stabbed to death inside a friend's
apartment in Dupont Circle in August 2006.
After many twists and turns, no one has been charged with the
brutal killing. Now a new website has popped up to explore various
evidence and possible theories and to dig deeper into the case.
"Who killed Robert Wone?" is topic number one on this new
website, which was created by four amateur sleuths who live in the
neighborhood.
One of the creators, Doug Johnson says, "When we started
looking at it, this case was clearly just a puzzle. It was a puzzle
where none of the pieces seemed to fit. Every theory that is
offered has holes and problems."
It has all the makings of a modern day clue game, but it is
reality. The homepage makes it clear with a picture of Wone's
gravesite.
Johnson says, "Clearly this is not a game. A man was murdered
and there is at least one person who knows the truth."
The website posts all the evidence, from crime scene photos
to search warrants. It also has photos inside the Swann Sweet home
and even traces the possible track of the killer.
It includes profiles of the three who lived at the home:
Dylan Ward, Joseph Price and Victor Zaborsky. All of them are now
charged with obstruction of justice in connection with the
case.
David Greer and Michael Kremin also work on the website.
Kremin says, "The website has created a clearinghouse which
enables people to more privately analyze and discuss some of these
more controversial issues."
The website goes where mainstream media has not, exploring
the alleged alternative sex lifestyle of the three residents. One
profile lists torture confinement and caging as personal interests.
Johnson defends the post, saying, "We're hoping to hear more
from people who have known any of these players in whatever
context. It's relevant and it's interesting, and contributes to
better understanding of what happened that night. "
The bloggers have backgrounds in public relations, digital
media and journalism. Some comments have been eye opening.
Craig Brownstein, another creator, says, "It requires a
degree of skepticism on our part every time we look at the comments
every morning. What's real, what's not."
Johnson summed it up saying, "We're serving as clearinghouse
for everyone to continue the discussion and to open it up.
Hopefully by doing that, we'll get to the bottom of who murdered
Robert Wone."
