Laurence Fishburne Reprises Role of Court Justice Thurgood Marshall

WASHINGTON - Most of us never had the pleasure of meeting the first black Supreme Court justice.  You will feel like you know Thurgood Marshall after watching actor, Laurence Fishburne.  Fishburne will reprise his Tony nominated role in the stage play Thurgood.  In an interview, FOX 5’s Shawn Yancy sat down with Laurence Fishburne.

Thurgood is a one man play that takes the audience on an intimate journey through justice Marhsall's life.  Fishburne transforms from a 16 year old boy to an 80 year old man.  Playwright, George Stevens Jr. began by writing a mini series about Brown vs. the Board of Education, a case in which justice Marshall played a pivotal role.

Using his mini series an inspiration, Stevens wrote Thurgood.  Both Stevens and Fishburne say that audiences will be pleasantly surprised.  Thurgood is not a long boring history lesson!  Thurgood runs at the Kennedy Center's Eisenhower Theater through June 20th.
