Interns From Israel and Palestine Work Together in US

"New Story Leadership" is a group that has successfully brought together groups of young people from areas of conflict around the world, such as Northern Ireland and South Africa.

They spend an internship here in Washington learning about the people they may consider enemies at home.

This year, the organization tackled the Mideast. Interns from places including Israel and Palestine worked together, socialized, and in some cases had their first one-on-one exposure to a religion or culture traditionally hostile to their own.

Two of the participants, Palestinian Hanan Abushanab and Israeli Liel Maghen joined us with more.

NSL has selected ten great young leaders to help create the first year of New Story Leadership. They come from Bethlehem and Tel Aviv, Gaza and Jerusalem and Arava. We have five Israeli young people and five Palestinian young people all who arrived in June 2010.
