A new poll shows Republican Bob McDonnell with an 8-point lead over Democrat Creigh Deeds in the Virginia race for governor.
McDonnell was favored by 49 percent of 605 registered voters surveyed by telephone Sunday and Monday by Clarus Research Group. Forty-one percent backed Deeds with 10 percent undecided.
The poll released Tuesday showed similar leads for the Republican candidates for lieutenant governor and attorney general.
The poll had a sampling error margin of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
Other recent polls also have shown McDonnell leading Deeds in the race to be decided Nov. 3.
