40 years ago in 1971, "Soul Train" introduced its young audience to some of the legends of the music industry and to other artists destined to become legendary in their own right.
Today, the Smithsonian Institution formally accepts the donation of artifacts from the "Soul Train" set.
The show is also being recognized with a panel discussion and a dance party tonight at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival.
Tony Cornelius, son of Don Cornelius and a successful TV producer in his own right, and Kinshasha Holman Conwill, deputy director of the National Museum of African American History and Culture which will house the exhibit, joined us with more.
