Provide object-oriented design, programming and web application development support for the NASA Global Change Master Directory (GCMD). This work will encompass:

* Develop and implement web applications using Java, Java Servlets, Tomcat, Java Persistence API (JPA), RESTful frameworks, RDBMS and XML databases.
* Assist in software testing, including unit/integration testing, and participate in code reviews.
* Support the existing code base and improve current functionality.
* Fix defects associated with the application and potentially prototype new architectural features.
* Handle the technical aspects of development; implement necessary functionality from a technical specification such as UML.
* Work directly with customers, users, and management to help determine and solve the customer needs in the development of future versions of NASA's Global Change Master Directory software.

Job Requirements: Requirements:
* Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
* High level of proficiency with Java, Javascript, JSP, CSS, JSF or Struts, XHTML, and RESTful frameworks. (2+ years)
* Hands-on experience in full software development cycle. (2+ years)
* Experience with Java Persistence API, JAXB is a plus.
* Solid grasp of Java development focusing on the UI. Any exposure to Swing, GWT, AJAX, EXT-JS, YUI, JQuery, DOJO, etc. would be a plus.
* Experience with software testing, including unit testing and integration testing (2+ years)
* Professional skills: ability to work independently and with a team. Ability to understand and master new technologies quickly.
* Ability to quickly understand and solve unique and undocumented programming problems.
* Strong desire to learn new technologies
* Must be energetic and self-starting
* US Citizenship or Permanent Residence
