What: Join more than 4,500 local participants from the DC area walking to raise $1.6 million to support research to find a cure for juvenile (type 1) diabetes.

There will be a 5K and 2K Family Fun Walk. The 5K Walk includes looping twice around the exterior of the stadium, a final lap on the warning track and crossing the finish line at home plate! The 2K Walk is once around the exterior of the stadium, with the final lap on the warning track and the finish line at home plate.

Besides the Walk itself, the day will include plenty of free food, live entertainment, games for kids and festivities both before and after the event.

Fox 5's Gwen Tolbart will be at the finish line to personally greet each walker, and each walker will have a chance to see themselves on the Jumbotron at home plate!

Why: Juvenile (type 1) diabetes strikes children suddenly, makes them insulin dependent for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications such as stroke, blindness, and amputation.
