WASHINGTON - D.C. Police are still investigating the crash of one of their vehicles with "Bumblebee" from the Transformers 3 movie.
The accident on the National Mall was not part of the script. But a source on the set of the movie has told FOX 5's Will Thomas that the crash will be written into the movie.
No one was hurt. But the wreck did prompt some high-level safety reviews.
MPD released a joint advisory with DDOT and the city's Office of Motion Picture and Television Development that says, "Following a review of safety procedures, the filming of Transformers 3 will resume this evening with enhanced public safety measures."
Third and 4th Streets with a view of the Capitol will be closed off to traffic. Those and other parking restrictions previously announced will remain in place.
The production crew is expected to film from dusk to dawn, using what's being described as simulated pyrotechnics and gunfire.
An information hotline has been set-up, which will include the most up-to-date information, at (202) 540-8039.
Filming should be complete by 6:30 a.m. Wednesday and should begin again in the evening.
Film crews did continue filming Monday night at the Air Force Memorial in Arlington, Va.
