Rapper Wale Won't Face Legal Action Over Profanity

BALTIMORE - Rapper Wale won't face legal action for curses and racial slurs during a performance at a free, city-sponsored arts festival.

Bill Gilmore, the director of the Baltimore Office of Promotion & the Arts, said Monday that the comments were unfortunate and city officials were caught off-guard, but the city does not intend to pursue any type of legal action.

Wale was the headliner on the main stage during the final day of the city's Artscape festival earlier this month.

City officials have said they were deeply disturbed by Wale's language and were reviewing his contract to ensure there was not any miscommunication about the festival's family-friendly nature.

Wale is a Washington native. His debut album, "Attention Deficit," was released last year.
