Will Thomas anchors the weekend editions of FOX 5 News at 5, FOX 5 News at 10 and The Edge at 11. He also files breaking news stories and special reports during weekday newscasts.
Will joined Fox 5 in 1997. During his 11 plus years in Washington, Will has reported on major stories including the September 11th attacks, the disappearance of Chandra Levy, and the search for the Washington area sniper.
Will has also traveled around the world, bringing viewers the latest information from political conventions and the 1999 earthquake in Turkey where he was the only local reporter filing stories for viewers in Washington. Before joining Fox 5, Will was an anchor and reporter at KEYE-TV in Austin where he covered then Governor George W. Bush. He has also reported for KOAT-TV in Albuquerque and KCBA-TV in Monterey-Salinas, CA.
A native of San Jose, Will graduated from San Jose State University with a BS in political science and broadcast journalism. Will's work has been recognized many times throughout his career. He has been honored with EMMY awards for his live reporting and for an in-depth story on the Ku Klux Klan in Maryland. He was also the 1st place winner of the prestigious Willian Randolph Hearst National Journalism Competition.
Outside of work, Will serves on the board of the National Kidney Foundation, an organization very important to his family.
