John Henrehan

John Henrehan is a 25-year veteran of WTTG-TV FOX 5 in Washington, DC. Since he joined the team in 1986, John has specialized in different beats (education, transportation, politics), but, at the moment, he prefers to be a general assignment reporter.

Prior to WTTG-TV, John worked as a broadcast reporter in Ithaca, NY; Palm Springs, CA; and Cincinnati, OH. Before his career as a television reporter, John was a radio reporter and worked as network anchor and reporter for the (old) Mutual Radio Network.

In Washington, John has covered Capitol Hill, and substituted as a White House reporter, but prefers local reporting. "I like being in the mud, the blood, and the beer [of local news].” "It's a murder one day, a transportation plan the next, and a roller coaster accident the next day", John says. "Just when you think you've seen it all, something completely different and weird comes along. I love being there, observing it all, and explaining it to people. It's a great job."

John earned a BS in Communications from Cornell University. He currently lives in Virginia.
