RICHMOND, Va -

Clothing optional resorts in Virginia and West Virginia are hoping to make history this weekend.

They're joining a nationwide attempt to break the world skinny dipping record. The current record stands at 13,674. The Avalon Resort in Paw Paw, West Virginia and the White Tail Resort in Ivor, Virginia, are participating in the event.

The clothing-free swim Saturday is organized by the American Association of Nude Recreationists and the Naturist Society. Dozens of clubs will participate around the country in what is being called the finale to Nude Recreation Week.

Sponsors remind participants they must be completely nude to be counted. The record attempt is called "Wearing zip, let's skinny dip."
