WASHINGTON (AP) - Researchers say low oxygen levels should affect smaller-than-average areas of the Chesapeake Bay this year. Scientists said Tuesday that they are expecting smaller-than-average hypoxic levels this year, meaning a smaller-than-average "dead zone" in the nation's largest estuary.

ANNAPOLIS (AP) - Maryland officials are holding a first-ever savings summit featuring financial experts. Banking and lending experts will analyze the current savings climate in the state. Studies estimate that nearly 40% of older households in Maryland are inadequately prepared for retirement.

BALTIMORE (AP) - A Maryland task force will meet for the first time Wednesday to review the best practices for handling offenses committed by juveniles. It will recommend whether to eliminate offenses that automatically result in adult charges. It will also recommend ways to reduce the number of youth in adult detention centers and prisons.

OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) - The Ocean City department has a new chief. Current Baltimore police commander Ross Buzzuro will assume his duties in the resort town on July 2. He will oversee nearly 100 full-time officers and 100 seasonal officers. Buzzuro began his law-enforcement career in 1985 as a police cadet in Baltimore.
