SALISBURY, Md. (AP) - The Tri-County Council for the Lower Eastern Shore says more people are using public transportation in the region. The council's Shore Transit Division announced it saw a 6.8 percent increase over fiscal year 2013 in residents using its transportation services. The increase is attributed to upticks in the economic landscape and expansion of medical assistance transportation.

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) - High school suspensions in Montgomery County have dropped nearly 37 percent in the past school year. The drop in suspensions happened amid efforts to use alternatives to out-of-school punishment and reduce racial disparities in discipline.

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - Law enforcement and Army officials at Fort Detrick are working to raise awareness about terrorism threats. Their efforts are part of the annual Anti-terrorism Awareness Month. It was designated by the Department of the Army as an educational tool for military communities.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Crabs and watermelon are the stars of a giant summertime feast at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis. The Maryland Department of Agriculture and the Mar-Del Watermelon Association are teaming up tonight with the local Rotary Club to produce what they're calling the world's largest crab feast.
