News Minute: Here is the latest Maryland news from The Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) - U.S. Park Police say 145 people were arrested during a protest outside the White House. Activists from CASA de Maryland and CASA de Virginia organized the rally against U.S. deportations of migrants in the country illegally. Park police say demonstrators were released after paying a $50 fine.

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) - A Prince George's County charter school will end recess in an effort to short its academic day. The head of College Park Academy says teachers suggested the move. He says teachers noted that students were really tired by the end of the day. The school had a longer school day than most middle schools.

BALTIMORE (AP) - Maryland has pulled all funding for a proposed double-stack rail center, ending its agreement with CSX to build a facility in southwest Baltimore. Transportation Secretary James T. Smith Jr. says $30 million in capital funding and remaining planning funding of $1.45 million will not be included in its draft six-year budget.

BALTIMORE (AP) - Health officials say Maryland has its first confirmed human case of West Nile Virus infection this year. The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene says the virus has also been detected in a horse in the National Capital Region.
